Thompson

The thing I that I most respected about our friend Jake Roberts is the fact that no matter the workout you never hear him complain about it. The first day Jake ever walked in to the gym we were doing Thompson: 10 rope climbs 290 back squats and 100m worth of pretty miserable farmer carries and not a word from Jake’s mouth besides, “Let’s do this!”  When Jake did Bull for the first time I recall him taking a knee in the middle of the first round. He was suffering but as usual he got back up and grinded on until it was over. Embracing the suck no matter what it was or sometimes no matter how long it took. Life isn’t easy so how you train should be no different. Just because life is tough doesn’t mean you can’t do your best to make it tolerable or even fun. Jake your work ethic in this little gym over the last 6 years has been nothing short of impressive. No matter if it was deadlifiting 500 pounds, snatching like an angel or rehabbing your shoulder back from surgery you approach everything with a can do attitude. Speaking of rehab, you got dealt a situation and you made the most of it. Constant pursuit of getting your shoulder back to where you wanted it with patience and persistence. Probably one of the most impressive rehabilitations Aurora has ever seen. Enjoy your ride my friend and we will see you soon.
Jake and I’m hoping AJ will be working out at the 9:15am class tomorrow and then it’s bon voyage to CFGB and hello Utah. Dang it I’m going to miss your face.

Thompson, 39, of Hooker, Oklahoma, commander of Operational Detachment Alpha 3334, Company C, 3rd Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne), based in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, was killed on Jan. 29, 2010, while supporting combat operations in the Wardak Province of Afghanistan.
